There isn't a great deal new to say about the GeForce 8800GT as a whole - it is, quite simply, in a league of its own when it comes to performance in its particular price bracket.

Of course, XFX's GeForce 8800GT 512MB Alpha Dog XXX Edition takes this level of performance to new heights, thanks to some rather hefty core, shader and memory clock speed increases.  As always, whether a factory overclocked part is the one for you depends upon your own needs coupled with your own willingness to perform overclocking, but if you want an extremely fast, hassle free GeForce 8800 GT with an overclock covered under warranty, you won't find many faster than XFX's offering here.

The Inno3D 8800GT OC Edition and the XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition are similar graphics cards, but the XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog is clocked 20MHz higher in both core and memory, compared with the Inno3D 8800GT OC. That provided an advantage in most of our tests.

The retail packages are both very good, but we found the XFX solution to be more complete and with a retail game that better suited our needs.

We highly recommend the XFX 8800GT card to anyone who wants to upgrade their system and gain in both performance and money.

This card is using high quality capacitor and cooling solution, which we
can see the performance has improved obviously. In some tests we
can see the performance is better than 8800GTX. We recommend this
product to video gamers.

Here we have GF8800 GTS 512MB. This card is using a G92 chipset and full release 128SP, which is more than 88GT’s 112SP, and is the same as GF8800GTX/Ultra level…if we look at the competitor AMD, HD 3870 is faster than GF8800GTS 640MB (new version) but the 3D Mark score is lower than GF8800 GTS 512MB.

We did a 3D Mark test on this card, and we found the performance is 5% better than overclock edition of other brands, still, there is room for overclocking. Even we have overclocked to
710/1700MHz, it still run smoothly. This card is using Zalman fan, in which although the speed is high, the temperature still kept at 65°C with incredibly low noise.

This is truly the fastest GF8600GT we ever have in the market.
